Universal Testing Machines – UTM-D, UTM-E & UTM-H Series
One machine for tensile, compression, bending and flexure testing. Electromechanical and hydraulic models from 0.1 kN to 2,000 kN.

The Complete Universal Testing Machine Range
Tensile, compression, bending and flexure — all from one machine, one software, one manufacturer.
A universal testing machine (UTM) is the backbone of any materials testing laboratory. It performs tensile, compression, bending, flexure, peel and shear tests on metals, plastics, composites, concrete and virtually any material — simply by changing the tooling.
Cermac offers three UTM series: the UTM-D bench-top (0.1–20 kN) for plastics and small components, the UTM-E floor-standing electromechanical (50–600 kN) for metals and composites, and the UTM-H servo-hydraulic (600–2,000 kN) for heavy-duty structural testing.
All machines share the same Cermac Testing software platform with 24-bit digital control at 1 kHz and full Industry 4.0 connectivity via TCP/IP LAN.
UTM Series Features
24-bit Closed-loop Control
Real-time load, displacement and strain control with 24-bit ADC at 1 kHz for accurate, repeatable results.
Multi-test Capability
Tensile, compression, bending, flexure, peel and shear — switch tests by changing the tooling, not the machine.
Quick-change Accessories
Grips, platens, bending fixtures and extensometers with rapid changeover for maximum laboratory efficiency.
Cermac Testing Software
Customisable test masks for all major standards, real-time plotting, automatic calculations and centralised database.
Class 0.5 / Class 1 Accuracy
Electromechanical models meet Class 0.5 (ISO 7500), hydraulic models Class 1 — from 1% of full scale.
Industry 4.0 Ready
TCP/IP LAN connectivity, automatic data export and multi-station networking for smart factory integration.
Testing Standards
Tensile testing of metallic materials at room temperature.
Tensile properties of plastics and polymer composites.
Compressive properties of rigid plastics.
Flexural properties of plastics — 3-point bending.
Mechanical testing of reinforcement steel bars (rebar).
Verification of static uniaxial testing machines.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is a universal testing machine?
A universal testing machine (UTM) applies controlled forces to specimens to determine mechanical properties such as tensile strength, yield point, elongation, compressive strength and flexural modulus.
What load capacity do I need?
Plastics and small components: 0.1–20 kN (UTM-D). Metals and composites: 50–600 kN (UTM-E). Heavy-duty steel and concrete: 600–2,000 kN (UTM-H).
Can one machine do multiple test types?
Yes. All Cermac UTMs are universal — switch between tensile, compression, bending and other tests by changing the tooling.
What software is included?
All machines include Cermac Testing software with customisable test masks, real-time plotting, automatic calculations and multi-user database access via TCP/IP LAN.
